Food Safety Process

Food safety is our top priority. We have the highest standards of cleanliness to ensure that everything we produce is clean, wholesome and safe for consumption.

We use only FDA approved food-grade cleaning solvents to keep our facility immaculate, and we regularly perform microbial testing on our processing equipment and work areas. Our food safety system is based on several programs – sanitation, food defense, preventative maintenance and pest control, just to name a few. We have a contracted lab which preforms regular microbial testing and we also undergo a voluntary third-party audit every month. We are Primus GFS, Kosher and Organic certified.

Our quality assurance personnel monitor all incoming and finished product. We maintain a cold chain from receipt to shipping of produce in order to maintain the freshness and shelf life of all products.

Other practices we have in place to ensure quality and safety include:

* GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) – To ensure proper product handling by employees.

* SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) – To ensure thorough cleaning and sanitizing of product contact surfaces.

* HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) – A commitment to safety which enables us to identify a possible hazard and
implement a plan for corrective actions and preventative measures.

* Member of United Fresh Produce Association and the Produce Marketing Association.

Produce Traceability Program

The Produce Traceabilty Initiative (PTI) is a voluntary, fresh produce industry-led effort to maximize and standardize the traceability of produce throughout the supply chain. The goal is for each case of produce to include barcodes with standardized product identification data that will trace that produce all the way back to the farm, if necessary.

PPI is a pioneer in this effort. We were one of the first produce processors of our size to implement electronic barcode tracking in 2012. We are committed to food safety and continue to stay on the forefront of this important initiative.

PTI is administered by the Produce Marketing Association, GS1 US, the United Fresh Produce Association, and the Canadian Produce Marketing Association.
